A nice drive over Santiam Pass today, heading through the Cascades. Plenty of snow around, complete with a magical fog that emanated from it. #pnw

A winding road runs through a dense forest with tall trees on both sides under a clear blue sky.

Sometimes it’s still hard to believe a place like Forest Park is only about 15 minutes from my house.

A tranquil forest scene features a shallow stream flowing under a moss-covered fallen tree and surrounded by lush greenery.

A narrow street lined with parked cars leads towards a city skyline under a cloudy sky.

We got away for a night in Hood River for my birthday. Kids spent the night at their grandparents’ house. We ran into some friends we hadn’t seen in a while, ate good food, drank too many beers. Hiked. Rained like hell. Wife puked in my car the next day 😂

A lot of pretty light this morning while walking Zoey the dog.

Tall trees are reflected in a puddle of water on a park bench.

A cross-section of a tree trunk shows growth rings and rough bark edges.

I hope to take one photo every day in 2025 and post it to a collection on my blog. While I tend to think about new beginnings this time of year, seeing this stump today somehow seemed fitting. How many rings do we have left?

As we headed back west this morning over the Blue Mountains, we caught the start of a winter storm. Grateful we missed what was expected, and that things opened up on the other side of Pendleton, offering some sunny views before heading into the Columbia River Gorge.

Zoey girl.

Things are ramping up.

A Christmas tree decorated with lights and ornaments stands next to a collection of wrapped gifts and a pair of dumbbells in a cozy living room.
