  • I’ve got about 10% left of the Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan. It’s taken me like 3 months to read this book I’ve wanted to read since 2006. I like nonfiction but they can be such a slog sometimes.

  • Despite Climate Friendly and Equitable Communities (CFEC), there are over 1,000 units of housing being developed within 1/2 mile of Elmonica, Willow Creek and Merlo MAX stations (8 trains per hour) and every single unit is still being built with at least 1 off-street parking space.

  • All these people pretending like they’re gonna cancel Amazon right before Christmas 😉

  • iPhone recording of me covering Lua by Bright Eyes for its 20th Anniversary.

  • I need a middle age friend matching app like OK Cupid where current and preferred neighborhood [walkscore](https://www.walkscore.com) figures prominently into our match %.

  • It’s really pretty incredible how much perfectly benign email Apple Mail sends to spam. Even after adding things like my bank’s email address to my contacts and manually moving messages from the same senders over and over again to the inbox, hundreds of times.

  • Oh, hey…check it out. Openvibe beta now supports Mastodon, Bluesky, Nostr AND Threads.

  • Soaking it up while we’ve got it!

  • What I don’t like about the implementation of is that I see the whole damn post, long-form and unformatted, in my feed. Let’s hope does it better.

  • Holy f%#!, planning life has gotten a whole lot harder having a kid in elementary school. I just had to merge the school calendar with my work calendar…so many days off.

  • There’s this trend recently where developers cry for planners to liberalize zoning rules to make pretty brick townhomes. Well, the first photo is not what they build. Here in Portland, we have liberal zoning rules and the second photo is what they actually build. Nothing even approaching pic 1.

  • Michiganders…how do you pronounce Isle Royale?

I’ve always pronounced it roy-AL, but it’s come to my attention that many people pronounce it like royal (ROY-ul).

  • Thinking about winter getaways. Just figured out that Allegiant flies from Eugene to Orange County. Might be worth the drive for $120 round trip. Also good prices from PDX to Arizona.

  • Had some seriously good food at Piroshky Piroshky tonight at BG Food Carts in downtown Beaverton. Again, we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to food.

A person is serving food or drinks from a food truck displaying various menu items and an "OPEN" sign.A meal includes a dessert topped with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar on the left, and a savory pastry accompanied by shredded cabbage and tomato-cucumber salad on the right.A menu board displays various types of pastries and breakfast items from Peroshki Peroshki.A box of fries and a cup with a straw are placed on a wooden picnic table in an outdoor setting with people and seating in the background.

  • Good gawd

  • New bump-outs/curb extensions all along Lincoln in downtown Hillsboro. You love to see it.

  • Jersey Mike’s usually makes a decent sandwich but some high school kid just ruined my sandwich with 5x as much mustard as should be legal.

  • I ordered some patches. One of the few times an ad worked to part me from my money.

  • Hard to beat.

A garden with colorful flowers is surrounded by trees under a cloudy sky at sunset.

  • I only have smart summon on my car for about a month during my full self driving trial, but this is gonna be fun to use when I see the parking enforcement coming for my car at work.

  • We are having a beautiful October here in the Northwest.

A tree-lined sidewalk is surrounded by lush greenery and colorful foliage under a partly cloudy sky.

  • In every office I’ve ever worked, the dish drying rack looks like this, at all times. No one puts anything away, they just cycle through the dishes on the rack. So why do we even use them? I want to throw the damn thing away, make people dry their dishes, and put them in the cupboard. 🤣

  • Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene opening for Stars at Wonder Ballroom

  • Lusting after these retro styled Voigtlaender [lenses](https://www.voigtlaender.de/z-mount/nokton-75-mm-f1-5-aspherical/?lang=en) for the Nikon Zf.

  • My blog posts now show the syndication links when cross posted, which I’m happy about. And while I am getting Mastodon and Bluesky comments copied over from Bridgy with webmentions, I’m hoping to figure out a way to bring over likes and reblogs as well. Has anyone got this to work on Micro.blog? ✍️
