  • 2024 was a bountiful year with many firsts to celebrate. Thankful for friends, family, travel, health, creative endeavors, and purpose. All the best in 2025.

  • Convinced whoever is designing men’s swim trunks, particularly the internal mesh, have no understanding of male anatomy.

  • As we headed back west this morning over the Blue Mountains, we caught the start of a winter storm. Grateful we missed what was expected, and that things opened up on the other side of Pendleton, offering some sunny views before heading into the Columbia River Gorge.

  • Our boy wanted to wear a “pretty” hat tonight like his sister’s, so he wore one of his grandma’s sparkly hats when we went to see the Christmas lights in downtown Caldwell.

  • I have a hard time taking Bend, Oregon’s affordability woes seriously when the tallest residential building there is only 5 stories. Y’all don’t need another UGB expansion, you need a skyline.

  • Good to know that if I ever need to refresh my appreciation for Oregon urban planning, all I need to do is visit suburban Boise.

  • I don’t need ketamine therapy I need a walkable city and 20 hour workweek.

Three social media posts humorously expressing a desire for a walkable city and better urban living conditions.

  • Yours truly, at a basement bar in Nampa.

A person stands on a staircase next to a lifelike wolf figure, with animal heads mounted on the walls above.

  • Idaho Christmas.

A festive arrangement of Christmas ornaments and decorative greenery is lit with soft white lights.

  • Zoey girl.

A black curly-haired dog with a patterned bandana sits on a patterned rug next to a white curtain.

  • Eastern Oregon en route to Idaho.

A vast, open landscape features a grassy field, distant mountains, and a partly cloudy sky.

  • If only I had a dollar for every time I heard “enjoy them now, they grow up so fast” from the generation whose men spent one third as much time with us as we do with our own children.

  • Accidentally recorded Christmas morning in 4k and the file is 45 gigs. Hm.

  • This is going to be a terribly unpopular opinion, but I don’t think ZGF delivered on the promise of the new PDX airport design. I was wowed by renderings, but it didn’t turn out as nice as I thought it would because of how they faked the natural lighting. It’s dark and gaudy in my opinion.

  • My five-year-old son, while putting together a realistic space shuttle Lego set, asks “why would astronauts need a shovel, dad?” Great question 😆

  • I was awarded some pretty big grant $$ to install EV chargers at my place of work (public). Comparing pricing schemes and noticed the city we’re working in charges by the hour for theirs. However, the kWh changes based on whether one or two people are plugged in to that machine. Such a scam, lol.

  • Having one of those down and out sorta days. Ordered Shake Shack and snuggled up with my dog, watching The Bear. Might hit the sauna later.
