I spend too many nights trying to convince myself that thinking about death won’t stop it from happening.

When I was young, I always equated a big house to being well-off. Now, being a homeowner, it’s the landscaping and how well the house is maintained, no matter the size. Too many house poor people in the burbs, not able to do the most basic level of home maintenance.

Using “induced demand” to explain away any need for roadway changes aimed at improving traffic flow and safety has got to be the most intellectually lazy, borderline cultish religious proselytizing I see in the urbanist/cycling sphere today.

I’ve been trying to ward off hair loss by taking meds for a little over 2.5 years while also dermarolling. Hard to know if I’ve made any progress, but the hair loss hasn’t progressed. Trying to accept that this may be as good as it gets.

It’s barely light out anymore when I wake up. It happens every year, but it’s never any less jarring.

I’ve been hearing that the tech sector employs land use planners for data center development and that some of them pay $200k+. Anyone have any experience working in this environment and could share your experience?

Very poor taste that an employee at our elementary school has a semi-automatic rifle sticker on his Jeep. My kid hasn’t even been in kindergarten a month and has already had to do active shooter drills.

Five months after buying an EV and I’ve spent $143 total on electricity, including a couple of Super Charger visits while on road trips. I used to spend that much every month. I’ve also saved about $70 on the oil change I would’ve needed had I bought an ICE. I will never go back.

Stuff like this is why TriMet MAX won‘t reach its full potential. In what world should this not be a grocery store, about 600 units of housing, and ground floor commercial? Every park and ride needs to be filled with daily necessities and housing.

Ok, Butt Hut BBQ really does have a sense of humor. Glad I’m not trying to qualify for a mortgage or anything right now, since BDSM Brewing is how that transaction is showing on my statement ☠️

We had some very respectable BBQ at “The Butt Hut” at the Aloha food carts behind the Walgreens on TV Highway and 198th. I chose the “Get Pounded,” as their menu suggested, ordering some brisket and ribs by the pound. Again, we are spoiled.

Something I will say about the Southwest Portland is that, for the taxes people pay, the bike and pedestrian infrastructure—or lack thereof—is appalling. Beaverton had better infrastructure.
