Walking the boy to school this morning, I saw a middle age man a little older than myself walking with his two preteen girls. You could tell he adored them, but they made him stop before getting to the school grounds so as to not be seen with him. It made my heart ache as a dad.

On the ballot this year in Oregon (as I fill out my ballot at home):
1. Establish an impeachment process for elected officials
2. Remove lawmakers’ power to set their own pay
3. Allow ranked choice voting
4. Increase corporate taxes on the largest businesses and establish universal basic income of $1600/yr for every Oregonian
5. Allow cannabis workers to join unions -
I’ve got about 10% left of the Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan. It’s taken me like 3 months to read this book I’ve wanted to read since 2006. I like nonfiction but they can be such a slog sometimes.

All these people pretending like they’re gonna cancel Amazon right before Christmas 😉

I need a middle age friend matching app like OK Cupid where current and preferred neighborhood [walkscore](https://www.walkscore.com) figures prominently into our match %.

It’s really pretty incredible how much perfectly benign email Apple Mail sends to spam. Even after adding things like my bank’s email address to my contacts and manually moving messages from the same senders over and over again to the inbox, hundreds of times.

Soaking it up while we’ve got it! #pnw

What I don’t like about the #Wordpress implementation of #ActivityPub is that I see the whole damn post, long-form and unformatted, in my feed. Let’s hope #ghost does it better.

Holy f%#!, planning life has gotten a whole lot harder having a kid in elementary school. I just had to merge the school calendar with my work calendar…so many days off.

There’s this trend recently where developers cry for planners to liberalize zoning rules to make pretty brick townhomes. Well, the first photo is not what they build. Here in Portland, we have liberal zoning rules and the second photo is what they actually build. Nothing even approaching pic 1.

Michiganders…how do you pronounce Isle Royale?
I’ve always pronounced it roy-AL, but it’s come to my attention that many people pronounce it like royal (ROY-ul).

Little Nicky is an underrated movie.
John:
Hey, by the way, Nicky, check this out! [spins Ozzy record backwards, but just makes noise] What’s Ozzy trying to say there?Nicky:
John, absolutely nothing. The Blizzard always came straight with his messages. But wrap your minds around this, gentlemen.Beefy:
Oh no! Heh heh heh!Nicky:
Chicago. [plays “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”]Todd:
I love this song.Chicago album spun backwards:
I command you in the name of Lucifer, to spread the blood of the innocent!Pete:
Oh, my God! Chicago kicks ass! -
Thinking about winter getaways. Just figured out that Allegiant flies from Eugene to Orange County. Might be worth the drive for $120 round trip. Also good prices from PDX to Arizona.

Had some seriously good food at Piroshky Piroshky tonight at BG Food Carts in downtown Beaverton. Again, we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to food.

Good gawd

New bump-outs/curb extensions all along Lincoln in downtown Hillsboro. You love to see it.

Jersey Mike’s usually makes a decent sandwich but some high school kid just ruined my sandwich with 5x as much mustard as should be legal.

I ordered some patches. One of the few times an ad worked to part me from my money.

Hard to beat.
