Almost spent $1000 on 7th row Mitski tickets but fought hard against my ADHD impulse control demons. It’s the small wins.

What I’d love is to have my own personal start page on the web. I plug in the services I already use and love, and there’s little widgets giving me updates. Bands in Town, Meet Ups, Things To-Dos, meal planning, reading list, etc. Maybe AI-assisted date planning.

Anyone seen the price of Disney World lately? Honestly think our trip to Italy will be cheaper.

Pampering myself with the tanning booth and massage chairs at Planet Fitness 🤣 it’s the only reason I haven’t cancelled.

    The marriage problem-solving flow chart:

Husband expresses a feeling about wife’s actions and how it could be resolved -—-> wife deflects, listing 10 things wrong with husband —-> husband apologizes —-> peace is restored

My oldest turns five tomorrow. It’s hit me hard that he’s going to be in kindergarten this year and I’m having all those normal, uncomfortable feelings wrapped up with hopes for him to have a good experience and that we’ve got him at the right school.

We are thawing and the sun is shining, but here’s a photo of the pup from a few days ago. She’s 7 now and is slowing down a bit, but still has some spunk. 🐕‍🦺

I’m a glutton for punishment. I put together a Wordpress site focused on my blog posts vs microblogging posts. I used the Shoreditch theme with font inspiration from Atilla on Ghost. Thinking about starting there for long-form posts and here on Micro.blog for short-form posts.

I don’t care what someone’s politics are, making negative comments about their body is so cringe.

One of the coolest things about learning Italian is seeing all the Latin rooted words and how they’ve influenced English words and their cognates or synonyms.

For example, the Italian word for “window” is “finestra”. From there, it’s not a big leap to “fenestration”. They’re all over the place.

Difficult to think about gardening too much given the weather lately, but we’re really only a few weeks out from seeding indoors. So, I put in my order last night through Territorial Seed Co. Picked up a few varieties I’ve never planted. I also have to start thinking about moving my beds.

Given the development patterns that emerged in the U.S. after G.I.’s returned home from WWII flush with cash, I often ask myself: did we really win?

Shout out to all your coworkers who are wrangling little kids and still working remotely during these storms. They’re barely hanging on but still keeping your shit running.

Also shout out to libraries. Today’s work is sponsored by Spider-Man books and Scooby-Doo DVDs.

On some of these dark and cooped up winter nights, I have too much time with my thoughts and memories. Tonight I was feeling nostalgic for the places I used to live, even though I know I’m better off with where I’m at now. Still, the present can feel so suffocating at times.
