At the guitar shop and a teenager is playing Spoon Man by Soundgarden on an SG. I was a teenager when that song came out and remember jamming to that in my bedroom and with friends. The kids are alright 😂

How are there no Dr. Z amplifier dealers in Oregon?

Got my locked and dead car opened up and the battery on a charger. Battery had died last weekend bc my 4 year old turned on a dome light and I hadn’t needed the car so I just left it.

Key slot was jammed up, too, because I never use it. But lots of silicon lubricant later, I’m in.

Felt like a thief in my hoodie in the pouring rain trying to break into my own car! Heh

My first disappointment with is that there’s no filter for media on profile pages. One of my favorite features of the official Mastodon app.

I’m having one of those very rare days where my wife is away with both kids but I’m having trouble getting motivated to do anything because it’s raining pretty good and I’m just soaking up the silence.

Is there anyone whose voice you heard for the first time just absolutely threw you? For me, it was Jimmy Page, guitarist for Led Zeppelin. I dunno what I was expecting, but it wasn’t that.

Waiting on that unlikely phone call after 2 interviews for a job I was actually excited about. I was supposed to know something by today. Trying not to continuously refresh my inbox for a rejection letter.

Skincare is not really a topic I’m accustomed to talking about as a dude, but I’ll be damned if my new moisturizer isn’t revealing more supple, radiant skin. Glycolic acid is the real deal. 😂

My car’s battery has been dead since Monday, likely because my son left the dome light on. On the one hand, feeling kinda lazy that I haven’t jumped it in a week. On the other hand, thankful that my current work/life situation is such that I don’t really need it very often.

I still have and occasionally use a couple of recorders, strangely enough.

Mostly nostalgia, but they’re great for teaching my kid about physical media and forcing myself to listen to entire albums.

There is a small but passionate community of users, too. Someone even developed a browser app to get music onto NetMD recorders without the need for Sony software. It’s awesome.

Just made the mistake of putting on HBO’s Velma for my 4-year-old Scooby-Doo addict. Pretty sure he now knows the word “bitch” from the opening monologue.

Can any Galaxy/Android users help me understand why, when I text short videos to my parents from my iPhone, the videos are tiny and super pixelated? Seems like this didn’t happen with friends who had Android. They’re on an unlimited data plan so this isn’t a concern. I understand the current war between iMessage and RCS, green and blue bubbles, etc., but is this the reason or is this a possible setting on their phones?

Alaska is the last of the 50 states I need to visit. Hard to fit that one in for a weekender, though. At least in any meaningful way.

I hope the Matter standard someday supports security cameras. Would be nice to not have to cobble together my own system with Scrypted, HomeBridge, Starling Home Hub, etc. It was nothing short of heroics for a non-tech guy like me to get my old Nest products to work with HomeKit Secure Video.

I wish Redfin took better care of Walkscore.com after buying it. I remember being so excited about the idea 10 years ago. Not only does it look like the site has never been updated, I’m told the data is only updated every 6 months. It seems much staler than that in my area.

My 3100 gallon rain cistern is finally full as of this week. Last year it was full by the end of October, but we had a drier start start to the season this year. I use this water all summer long to water my 3 raises beds.

It’s been such a joy to watch you grow, witness your wobbly first steps, listen to your frequent giggling, and just take pleasure in seeing you as a happy, fun, and playful baby. Feeling all around pretty lucky to be your dad. Happy first birthday to our Annie.
